5 Things You Need in Your Back to School Beauty Arsenal

While it may not feel like it, the fall semester is just a few sunburns and beach days away. Here at TBC, we’re rounding up a collective list of all the hot ticket beauty items you need (yes, need) in preparation and anticipation of going back to school. Here’s the lowdown:

1. dark, dramatic lip colors

Au naturale may be the go-to look this summer, but fall holds its own. Not only do dark lips totally add an air of mystery and a lot of sex appeal, but this is one of the only times of the year that this look really works. Take advantage of the changing seasons and the beautiful fall colors, and own your campus fashion/beauty scene when you’re back to school this semester.

2. Travel sized dry shampoo

Dry shampoo gets mentioned in a post at least once a month around here, so you might as well pick up what we’re putting down. Washing your hair daily, or even every other day, is not good. It strips your hair of essential oils and can even leave you with greasy locks. That’s where dry shampoo comes in and saves the day. We’re loving this travel sized bottle specifically, because it’ll fit perfectly in your backpack. Next time you’re running to a club meeting right after practice you can smell like coconut and have a flawless ‘do!

3. Spiral hair holders

Make this semester the semester of zero (yes, zero!) hair tie kinks. We all know that even when we spend a full twenty minutes (this is a lot of time for a busy college girl) curling our hair for the first day of classes, we’re bound to throw it up in a ponytail sooner or later…especially walking around campus the the last few weeks in August. Invest in a few no-kink coil hair holders and you’ll be set for the whole season.

4. Oxy 28 day challenge skincare program

Nailing down a skincare routine in time for the fall can be tricky. As if maintaining a routine wasn’t hard enough between summer vacations and beach days, try settling into a skincare system with new classes, student organizations, and sports teams thrown into the mix. Luckily, there’s a pretty simple solution: OXY’s 28 Day Challenge.

Basically, instead of stressing quick fixes and aggressive, peel-your-face-off solutions, OXY’s skincare program is 28 days. The company has done it’s research, and has built the entire system off the fact that dermatologists say that it can take anywhere from four to eight weeks to achieve the best results using acne medications. They’re all about taking it in stride, yet the program is totally manageable.

There’s also an app to keep you on track. OXY has an acne care level regimen for each level of acne, and you can log right onto the app (available in the Apple App Store or on Google Play) to get your 28 day plan and take the challenge to clearer skin. There’s even daily alerts, which are great for busy college students, and a money-back guarantee (on the products, the app is free).

5. Moisturizers

While the semester may start during the tail end of summer, expect fall weather to ensue within your first few months back to school. You can be prepared for the cooler weather by having moisturizers on hand for both your face and body. Don’t be afraid to invest in a jar of shea butter or coconut oil (or both) to use right before bed as your skin acclimates and consequently dries out from the cooler temps. Coconut oil also doubles as a great natural eye makeup remover, which you can incorporate into your skincare routine as well.
