Coffee Talk: We Got Married!

After two years of engagement and almost seven years of dating, Richard and I finally tied the knot earlier this month. Surrounded by our closest family and friends, it was a day that I’ll always look back on fondly.

After so many months of planning and preparing, it is strange to have it be over. I’ve had several people ask me if I’m sad that our big day has come and gone, but I’m just happy that it turned out as beautiful as it did.

We have plenty to look forward to over the coming years!

In honor of one of the most monumental days of our lives so far, I wanted to take a moment to share a few of the preview pictures my photographer sent over the day after the wedding and also answer a few of the commonly asked questions I’ve been getting.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve shared a personal post here on the blog, so please let me know if you end up wanting to see more of this type of content!

How did you meet your now husband?

Richard and I met when we were fifteen. We were lab partners in science class our freshman year of high school.

I have an entire post on the story of how we met and became a couple that I wrote right after we got engaged!

Are you going on a honeymoon?

We have not in fact made any arrangements for our honeymoon at this time! That being said, we’re definitely planning on going away together this winter.

Richard and I are both involved in a seasonal business (I have a full-time job in addition to blogging), and it’s much easier for us to take time off during the down season. We haven’t decided where we want to travel yet, but I’m really hoping we can get back to Orlando at some point and go to both Disney and Universal Studios again.

How is married life so far?

Honestly, married life isn’t really any different than before when we were just engaged. Richard and I already own a home together (read my tips on how we bought a house young), so living together is nothing new for us.

I have to say the strangest thing about being married so far is actually using the term husband. That’s going to take some getting used to!

What did you think of the wedding day? Was it everything you imagined?

Our wedding day was everything I imagined…and more! I was so lucky in that I didn’t experience any nerves or jitters about the whole thing, so I could really enjoy every moment fully.

The experience actually lasted the whole weekend for me, since we rented our venue from Friday night through Sunday morning. My girlfriends and I were able to have a sleepover at venue the night before the wedding, which was very special given that many of my friends were coming in from out of town.

Overall, I wouldn’t change a thing about our wedding day. Everything was exactly what I wanted and more.

What’s next?

It’s crazy to actually process how much has happened in the past few years of our lives. There’s been so much going on (i.e. buying our first home, getting engaged, planning a wedding, etc.) that I’m very much looking forward to some downtime.

Like I mentioned above, our winter season is usually pretty low key. I’m excited to get to relax a bit and possibly travel some, even if it’s just to our family condo in Florida. We had some pretty ambitious travel plans (just take a look at our 2019 travel bucket list) that I don’t think we’ll get to this year, but I’m honestly 100% a-ok with taking things slow this year.

And there you have it…just like that, we’re married!

How did you feel after you got married? Did your big day go as planned, or were there some hiccups along the way?
