I Was Intimidated By Tax Season Until I Changed This One Thing…

Thank you to H&R Block for sponsoring today’s post on my first experience with H&R Block tax software! As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Tax Season H&R Block

If we’re being honest, I was pretty worked up about tax season this year. This is only my second full year out of college, so filing my taxes as a working adult is still something that’s relatively new to me. Last year, I paid a pretty penny to have an accountant do the work for me. While I wasn’t totally against doing this again, I really didn’t feel like having to set up an appointment and sit down with someone to go through all of my information.

For those of you who don’t know, I work full time in addition to blogging. I’m in a seasonal, family owned and operated business, and tax season always falls right around the time when we start to get crazy busy. Not to mention, this platform has continued to take off for me over the past few years. Juggling a full-time position plus spending nearly an equal amount of time on my blog each week leaves me with little free time, and what’s leftover always goes to my family.

That’s why this year I wanted to do something different with my taxes. I wanted to get them done quicker, and have that weight taken off my shoulders, so I could get back to doing what I love.

That’s where H&R Block comes in. You’ve probably seen their offices around town where you live, but did you know that there’s an H&R Block DIY product you can use to complete your taxes online? A huge chunk of people can even file their taxes using H&R Block online totally free!

Given that I have multiple streams of income, including revenue from my own business, I chose the Self-employed product. This option is perfect for people who own their own business, and it made the whole process of reporting multiple income streams so seamless. I was also comfortable going this route, because the pricing was provided upfront, and it never changed. If something did need to be added on to complete my taxes though, H&R Block would explain why. No hidden fees. This was so helpful, since it was my first time filing on my own!

Doing my taxes through H&R Block online this year was great, because I was able to do my taxes 100% from home. All I had to do was answer a series of questions, plug in my personal and business-related information, and it walked me through the entire process. I was shocked when I hit the Wrap-Up section — I couldn’t believe I was finished doing all of my taxes in just an hour, all on my own!

Though I was able to answer all of the questions that H&R Block asked me unassisted, the great thing about this technology is it allows you to connect with an H&R Block tax pro if you need help. They’ll even share your screen to see exactly where you’re having trouble. There’s also an option at the end to have a tax pro review your taxes to make sure you’re getting the best refund possible.

Though I didn’t opt for this add-on, I loved that after each major phase in the product, there was an Accuracy Review to make sure I hadn’t left anything out. This really helped me to feel confident in doing my own taxes.

Tax Season H&R Block

You know what’s funny? I was so stressed a few weeks ago about getting my taxes done. I was intimidated by the entire process, and I felt like I just couldn’t do it on my own. Truthfully though, it couldn’t have been any easier. R. even used H&R Block for his taxes this year, too! He was able to file his for free, which was an awesome surprise.

I feel so good knowing that my taxes are done, but I feel even better knowing that I didn’t have to waste a ton of time figuring it out. I used H&R Block online on a Saturday morning, and within an hour I was able to enjoy the rest of the day and go dress shopping with my mom for my wedding this fall. So much better than spending the whole day working on my taxes, right?

Get started with H&R Block, and get your taxes done today!

Have you ever used the H&R Block tax software? What do you find stressful about tax season?
