Back to Campus: Bathroom Beauty Necessities

Though I can be a major procrastinator, I always try to do my back to school beauty hauls as early as possible. These are the few items that I’ll be using on a daily basis, and there’s no way I want to deal with experimentation the first week back on campus. Buying these products ahead of time gives me the security I need to test out new face washes, shampoos etc. (I’m an impulse buyer and product aficionado, so brand loyalty only exists for those I absolutely love) so I can look no less than on point for the first day of classes.

I stopped by Walmart after work this week to pick up a few of the basic bathroom beauty (alliteration much?) necessities:

1. Whitening Toothpaste, Mouthwash & New Toothbrush

I’ve been experimenting with different toothpastes lately, striving for a whiter smile. I always opt for  a brand that specifically advertises whitening properties, and this time I went with Colgate Advanced Clean. I’ve had good experiences with Colgate in the past (remember this whitening toothbrush/pen?), so this is definitely a situation in which brand loyalty comes into play. I’m also dying to try activated charcoal toothpaste, so I’ll let you all know how that goes down!

2. Supersized Shampoo and Conditioner

I get a lot of free samples and, when I find something I really like, it’s go big or go home. I most recently received little bottles of Pantene hydrating shampoo and conditioner at the Her Campus Her Conference, and I am seriously in love. It’s one of the only shampoos I’ve tried that protects my hair from looking greasy, yet refuses to weigh it down. And I totally recommend buying the value sizes of whatever products you prefer. I did this my freshman year at college and never had to restock on anything!

3. Skincare

I’m huge on taking care of my face. Having dealt with painful and embarrassing breakouts in the past, I absolutely need something that will work. But more than that, I need a program. I always purchase a skincare program before going back to school, because I know that it’s been designed to combat a variety of skin issues. If I can’t find a brand that offers what I need, I’ll test a variety of washes, lotions, toners and spot treatments until I find a setup that works for me.

4. Hydrating Shaving Cream

Shaving cream is an absolute must in my book. I like to have two bottles on hand so I never have to go without. I know, you’re thinking igh maintenance much? But seriously, when the winter months come you’ll thank me for this.

5. Disposable Razor(s)

Disposable razors are the way to go, especially as a college student on a budget. I’ve been using Schick disposable razors for awhile now, and this time I gravitated towards the Schick Hydro Silk due to its alleged hydrating properties. Like I said, I’m all about moisturizing and nipping dry skin in the bud, so this was a great choice for me. You can also redeem a coupon here to buy one get one free or enter Schick’s #SchickSelfieSweeps for a chance to win 10,000 dollars towards college tuition!

What products do you swear by to get you through the fall semester?
