Thank you to the AC Boston Downtown for hosting me during this trip and inspiring this post on where to stay in Boston. The hospitality of properties like AC Hotels is what allows me to share these amazing destinations with you and inspire your travels on a frequent basis. So, thank you for supporting the brands, properties, and destinations that allow me to do what I do! Also — please know that however grateful I am towards my partners, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
Breaking news — R. and I finally made it to Boston! I’ve heard so many amazing things about this historic, bustling city over the years, so it was exciting to get to see things for ourselves last weekend. Though we only had about 48 hours to explore, Rich and I certainly made the most of the trip.
I’m going to be sharing a full guide to Boston next week, equipped with my favorite restaurants, historic sites, shopping spots, and of course travel deals. However, we absolutely need to touch base on the where to stay in Boston first!
Where to Stay in Boston
When I’m traveling, I try not to spend a ton of time in my hotel room. I often visit new cities over long weekends, so I try to see as much as I possibly can within a short amount of time. That being said, our recent stay at the AC Boston Downtown made it tough not to be a total “homebody” during this trip.
Check out a few of my favorite highlights below to learn more about the AC Boston Downtown and why you might consider it one of the best hotels in Boston:
Location, Location, Location!
Location is a pretty big deal to me when I’m traveling. I do not like to waste time, so being near the center of activity is important. The AC Boston Downtown was honestly the best location we could have asked for. Uber rides to some some of the most central areas in Boston like the Quincy Market were usually under $10 and just 10-15 minutes away.
Transportation was incredibly easy and cost effective staying at the AC Boston Downtown, which I would highly recommend if you’re looking specifically for Downtown Boston hotels or just where to stay in Boston in general.
Note: Parking is crazy expensive in Boston! We didn’t want the hassle of driving in the city, which is why we took an Uber every time we wanted to go somewhere. Just note that there is a $50 per night fee for valet parking at the hotel if you bring your vehicle! There’s other parking garages within walking distance that are cheaper, but we found that it was easiest to just do this through the hotel.
The Food
It’s no secret, R. and I are total foodies. Checking out both popular restaurants and hidden gems is one of our favorite activities to do when we travel, so it was exciting to find out that the AC Boston Downtown has some really delicious food options right there on the property.
We took advantage of the European style breakfast each morning, which featured a wide array of meats, cheeses, pastries, juices, specialty coffee drinks, and more. I’m not a breakfast person, but I actually found myself looking forward to the meal each morning.
I will note that breakfast is not included in the stay, but after experiencing it myself I definitely would pay to eat here each morning if I came back. It was a lovely way to start the day, with great service and delicious food. I’m also obsessed with European style breakfasts in general, and this one certainly did not disappoint!
Modern Design
While I’m not typically super picky about my hotels, I have to say I’m a sucker for modern design. I loved the crisp, clean look of the lobby and sitting areas at the AC Boston Downtown. It just made me want to sit down and open my laptop, read a book, chill out, etc.
I also still cannot get over the laminate floors in our hotel room!!! I loathe walking around on carpet at a hotel, so I was very pleased when I first walked into our room and discovered the flooring selection.
Smart TV’s!
It may not sound like a huge deal, but I absolutely love having access to a smart TV when I’m traveling. Our room had a really nice sized flatscreen smart TV, which meant we had access to not only cable television, but Netflix and Hulu, too (if you have an account to sign into).
There’s not many hotels that have this amenity yet, but it truly does make a difference to me. Though I don’t like to spend a ton of time in the room when I’m traveling, being able to come back and watch my favorite shows at night really does help me relax and feel at home.
Overall Thoughts…
Overall, our time at the AC Boston Downtown was extremely comfortable. When it comes to where to stay in Boston, this property has some great amenities that make it perfect for both business and leisure travel.
Given that you can get a room here for under $150 per night, depending when you book and which type of room you choose, I would absolutely recommend this property if you’re looking for hotels in Downtown Boston! For the location, the service, and the food, you really can’t go wrong.
