My Daily Self Care Checklist (+ Why You Need One, Too!)

This post on my daily self care checklist is sponsored by Oikos Oh!, but the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I didn’t make a New Year’s Resolution this year. I drew up a 2019 travel bucket list as well as a daily self care checklist, and I called it a day. Truth be told, 2018 was wild. It was one of the best, most accomplished years of my life (we even bought & moved into our first house, yo!)…but it was also trying in many ways.

That’s why this year I’m vowing simply to slow down. It may not look like it from behind the screen as you see me continue to jet set around the world and explore as often and as fully as I can, but I promise you it’s true.

There are so many seemingly ordinary moments in life that can be transformed into something extraordinary with just a little twist. That’s why this year I’m not hesitating to truly give back to myself. Whether it’s a new hairstyle, another cozy throw blanket that I don’t need but somehow still feel like I do, or simply a decadent midday treat after a productive morning, I’m all in.

As they say, treat yo self.

Self Care Checklist

Speaking of treating yo self, one of the most delicious things I’ve been treating myself to lately has been the NEW Oikos Oh!Double Cream Yogurt . Whether I’m in need of a snack on the road, or I’m simply binge watching my favorite shows during a relaxing evening, Oikos Oh! Double Cream Yogurt is something I can always look forward to.

The really cool thing about Oikos Oh! is that it is made with double the cream versus Oikos Whole Milk Yogurt. It creates this a one-of-a-kind luscious texture that you will seriously love (or at least I am!). It also has a hyper indulgent sauce at the bottom!

While treating yourself and self care aren’t necessarily synonymous, they certainly do go hand in hand in my book. Not only am I giving back to myself, but I’m also making sure that I’m looking out for my overall happiness and implementing practices in my daily life that contribute to this.

That’s where my self care checklist comes in.

My self care checklist is a list of daily habits and goals that I’ve come up with in order to treat myself with kindness and work towards my goal of slowing down and enjoying the simple things in life again. I can’t tell you what a good self care checklist looks like for you because truthfully, it differs for everyone based on his or her individual needs. However, I can give you an idea of what is important to me, and what I am striving for.

My Self Care Checklist

  • Drink at least 64 oz of water
  • Get my heart rate up with some form of physical activity
  • Read something interesting — can be a book, a news article, whatever sparks my interest and feeds my brain
  • Indulge in something you love (like one of my favorite Oikos Oh! flavors — Honey Drizzled Blueberry & Salt Dusted Caramel Creme)
  • Dedicate at least an hour to one of my several hobbies
  • Make time for at least 30 minutes to relax and/or meditate before bed

Self Care Checklist

While this list may sound like a lot, it’s actually pretty simple. It’s about creating more time for the things that I love, and slowly weeding out and saying no to the things I don’t. It’s also about indulging in things I love (i.e. enjoying a cup of Oikos Oh! Honey Drizzled Blueberry Yogurt after finishing a long blog post, or shamelessly unwinding with an episode of my favorite tv show before bed).

I’m excited to see what these small changes in my routine will do, and I urge you to start thinking about the ordinary moments in your life that have the potential to become extraordinary. Setting out your intentions for the day with a daily self care checklist can do wonders, so I hope you’ll give it a try and report back!

How do you treat yourself? What do you think about making a self care checklist?
