Saratoga Springs Hotels: A Night at The Downtowner

Why Visit Saratoga Springs?

Saratoga Springs, NY is a beautiful and thriving city located in Upstate New York. Named after its many natural mineral springs, the area is home to a wide variety of unique shops, delicious eateries, and of course the famous Saratoga Race Course. Though most visitors clamor to Upstate New York during the warm summer months, there’s plenty of events going on all year round to keep even the most antsy of travelers entertained.

Checking In

We arrived to Saratoga Springs in the early afternoon, with a whole list of activities already planned for the remainder of the day. Luckily, most Saratoga Springs hotels are located within a short driving distance from the main Broadway Historic District. What we didn’t know though, was that The Downtowner is actually conveniently situated right on Broadway. Yep, that means our hotel was within walking distance to most of Saratoga’s best bars, shops, and restaurants.

Total win.

Not to mention, check in was quick and easy. We were able to park in front of the hotel, grab our room keys (yes, they’re physical keys!), and unload our bags in under 15 minutes. This was essential in being able to complete the rest of the day’s scheduled activities.

The Common Area

One of my favorite things about The Downtowner was the newly renovated common area in the middle of the property. Filling in the previously existing in ground pool that the rooms were built around, there’s now tons of space to hangout, hold meetings, eat breakfast, read a book, etc. The space is bright and airy, yet cozy at the same time. I honestly wish we had more time to relax during this trip, because I would have loved to spend some time in this space sipping a coffee and working on some upcoming posts.

The Coffee Bar (That Dreams are Made Of)

FYI, when you book a room at The Downtowner, you also gain access to the coffee bar that pretty much ends all coffee bars. Those of you who follow along regularly know I love my coffee dearly, so this was a huge highlight of our stay. Check out this conversation I had with R. about it too, if you want a real laugh.

Evening at the Hotel

One of the things that I love about Lark Hotels is that their rooms are typically equipped with smart tv’s. I’m all about watching Ozark right now as well as a few other Netflix faves, so I was happy to be able to enjoy my favorite shows from my room at The Downtowner. Our room was pretty simple, but it was decorated with vibrant colors and equipped with a cute mini fridge. It had everything you could ask for, plus a super comfy bed!

Checking Out

I was honestly kind of sad when it came time to check out of The Downtowner. This was our first trip to  area, so I’m not sure what it’s like at other Saratoga Springs hotels, but I really loved this property and will definitely plan on coming back in the future.

Have you ever stayed at a boutique hotel (or even better, one of Lark Hotels’ properties)? What was your experience like?

Thank you again to The Downtowner for hosting us during this trip. As always, all opinions are entirely my own.
