If you’re new to Fort Myers, the first thing you’ll want to do when you arrive is hit up the beach.

Some of our favorite places include Smokin’ Oyster Brewery, and Kilwin’s for ice cream. 

There’s also plenty of beachfront to walk, too! 

Just beware if you’re traveling here on spring break, it gets BUSY. 

Definitely plan for an early morning if you want to get prime parking and good spot near the water during the busy season.

2. Check out Downtown Fort Myers

Downtown Fort Myers is a great area to check out during the evening. 

There’s lots of bars and restaurants to try, as well as a few clubs. 

And if you love shopping, there’s also some cute stores around there too.

No matter what time of year you go though, it’s something you won’t want to miss.

For anyone that loves to shop, Miromar Outlets in Fort Myers is a must.

With brands such as Michael Kors, Coach, and Kate Spade all frequently (if not almost always) boasting 70% off sales, this is the best spot in Fort Myers to find deals on all your favorite designer goods.

There’s even a Ford’s Garage located here at the mall too, so you can grab juicy burger and toast to all the bargains you found afterwards!

Sanibel Island

11. Head to Sanibel Island

Sanibel Island is a wonderful day trip if you’re staying in Fort Myers. 

You can easily walk or bike around to the local shops, eateries, and beaches, which makes it a real hit.

There’s also TONS of seashells to collect, but make sure you bring your water shoes, since the terrain is super rough! 

Overall though, the island has an incredible, relaxed vibe that keeps us coming back each time we’re in the area. 

You can also drive over to Captiva Island from here, which is another beautiful place to explore.

If you don’t mind the 45 minute drive, you’ll definitely want to check out Naples, Florida while you’re in town. 

We try to go here every time we’re in Fort Myers.

Naples has its own beautiful beach, a fun downtown area, and also a more upscale shopping venue called the Waterside Shops

13. Visit Manatee Park

Last but not least of things to do in Fort Myers this weekend, stop by Manatee Park to see some real manatees in the wild.

Entrance to the park is free, so you only have to pay for parking for this attraction.

Just make sure you go on a cooler day, as the manatees are more likely to show up in the waters during these times.
