Having to work around random papers or household objects may help you to lose your train of thought. One minute you’re thinking about that next blog post and the next you’re realizing how badly you need to take out the trash. Very worst case scenario: You actually misplace what you’re working on in the mess! Take a few minutes to declutter or clean up. This will both get your mind off of the work at hand (think a healthy, necessary three minute break) and help you to feel productive right off the bat.
