Happy Mother's Day! I hope you've all found your way to a quaint little brunch with the amazing women in your lives. I'll be celebrating with my mom at this teeny, tiny French restaurant in our area that serves the BEST crepes...ever.
Wrapping up the week with my best friend/total role model calls for a little indulgence, right?
The thing I'm second most excited for? To use some of my favorite new beauty products. A few weeks ago, I came home to visit one last time before the end of the semester. It was a great way to refresh and recharge before finals week, but...I left all of my makeup at home.
Let me restate: I left ALL of my makeup at home. Keep in mind I didn't bring my car up to school with me either, so making the trip to ULTA (30 min. drive, ugh) wouldn't have been an easy feat. Luckily, the bookstore was having an end of the year 50 percent off sale on all Boots products.
I know, I know...who the hell buys their makeup at a college bookstore? I'm a huuuuge proponent of drugstore makeup (broke a$$ college girl probs), but I've got a close relationship with my Revlon and Covergirl products. Once I know something works, I stick with it. So, buying a random drugstore brand at the bookstore was a big step for me. But hey, desperate times call for desperate measures guys.
The funniest part about this whole ordeal is that I actually ended up loving every single product I bought. I also didn't realize until later, but I've actually used Boots products before and am a HUGE fan. (Post to come on this one product soon.)
So, here is a breakdown of some of my new (accidental) favorite finds:
The Boots mosaic bronzer was definitely my favorite find. When I first put it on, I got way too much on my brush and ended up looking like a total clown. So, just know that a little goes a long way with this bronzer, especially if you're as fair-skinned as I am. I also love that this bronzer has both brown and blush tones. I usually do a light coat of bronzer and blush, so this is a total lifesaver when I'm rushing to get out the door.
Call me crazy, but I don't really have a preference when it comes to mascaras. I've tried a lot of different brands, and they all seem to be one in the same. However, what stood out to me about the Boots mascara was the 'star' brush, which is a bit different than any other applicators I've seen. I love the volume + length that I get when using this mascara. It's also super easy to remove, which is always a bonus for me when I just want to get my makeup off quick before bed.
My biggest problem with this lipstick? I completely ruined the tube (it's super chipped now) when I took it out of the plastic packaging. However, I'm assuming that this was total user error. This lipstick is surprisingly one of the best I've tried recently. It actually goes on smoothly + hydrates, which isn't the case with a lot of drugstore lipstick buys. Love it.
I'm typically more of a foundation girl, but I was pleasantly surprised by this tinted moisturizer. It didn't cover every imperfection, but it's definitely a go-to when you're going for that natural look.
Where are your favorite drugstore finds? Any tips?
