5 Steps to Perfect Spring Skin

Despite the fact that New York is currently awaiting a massive snow storm right now (*sigh*), spring is right around the corner.

Aside from doing a deep clean of my closet and going on a major clothing haul to prep for the next few months of fashion posts, I also try I try to reevaluate my beauty/skincare routine each season. Spring is one of my favorite times, because it brings lots of beautiful colors and delicious new scents.

However, it can be a tricky transition going from the dry winter weather to luscious spring in the blink of an eye. Of course, this is always how it seems to happen in New York. Luckily though, I’ve established a few rules of thumb (totally through trial and error) that’ll help even the most troubled skin transition seamlessly into the upcoming season…

Why You Need to Dry Brush for Beautiful Skin (Or You’re Missing Out)

Dry brushing is one of those topics that I reference all the time and have been meaning to do a full-fledged post on for what seems like literal ages. I started dry brushing after reading another blogger’s lowdown on it a few years ago, and I’ve pretty much been obsessed ever since. It’s something that I try to do almost every time before I get in the shower, and my skin is definitely thankful for it!

But wait, WTF is dry brushing?

How to Get Voluminous Beach Waves in just 5 easy steps

I’ve always been a fan of beach waves. They look so effortless, yet chic, and give lots of added volume to any hairstyle. However, I tend to wear my hair naturally, simply because I have a serious problem with getting up out of bed in the morning without hitting snooze at least three times. Until recently, there never seemed to be a quick fix to achieving voluminous locks without sacrificing my beauty sleep. Lucky for me (and you) though, I learned a few tips and tricks from my hairdresser after I told her I just had to have this Lucy Hale lob. Here’s the lowdown: 1. start with the right base product One mistake I was totally making was that I was using any shampoo and conditioner that I could find. That’s a total no. Volumizing shampoo is where it’s at. I like to start off this beachy look with Pantene…

5 Fall Skincare Products You Need in Your Life now

Truth be told, I’m a total skincare addict. Whether it’s a new bubbling face mask or a magical serum, I’m constantly trying new products and perfecting my routine. Even with constant experimentation though, transitioning seasons and adapting your regimen can be challenging. After all, each new weather rotation brings a whole different slew of potential skincare woes — and ain’t nobody got time for that. Luckily though, I’ve been testing lots of products lately and have cooked up the perfect fall routine. Here’s the essentials: 1. e.l.f. hydrating bubble mask Anyone who knows me well knows that I like to treat myself. Often. Whether it’s by shamelessly investing in those shoes I’ve been eyeing for weeks, ordering cookies to my doorstep at 10 p.m. after a rough day, or simply drawing up a hot bath, I believe in the power of self love. So why not treat yourself and your skin at…

How To Have The Perfect At-Home Spa Day

Wow, I can’t remember the last time I’ve taken such a long hiatus from blogging! I hate that I’ve been absent for the past few weeks, but I have been sick as a dog. I’m talking the full nine yards. Fever, sore throat, cough, you name it.  YUCK.  However, being essentially couchridden for the past week has had at least one positive affect, since it’s the inspiration behind today’s post. Now that my immune system is finally starting to kick some a$$, I’m definitely in need of a spa day this weekend as a treat for such a rough time while I’ve been sick. Though feeling like CRAP is a perfect excuse for a little “me time”, we all need to love ourselves a little more often. Am I right?  I don’t know about you guys, but I’m constantly go, go, go. That’s why being so sick was so sucky.…

How to Create the Perfect Nighttime Skincare Routine

It wasn’t until very recently that I enacted a nighttime skincare routine. Ain’t nobody go time for that, right? Until recently, my evening ritual simply involved steaming in the hot shower until I felt like I was going to pass out, and then maybe, on a good day, following up with some moisturizer. How can I even be considered a beauty blogger with a “routine” like this? I don’t know, but hopefully ya’ll can take a page from my book and avoid some of the beauty and skincare mishaps that I have. Needless to say though, this non-routine didn’t work out. When I started having some random acne flare-ups this summer, I decided to get my a** in gear and really figure out a nighttime skincare schedule that worked for me. And now? My skin’s never been quite so flawless. After all, our skin is the largest organ (yes, organ)…

Prom Beauty checklist

It’s that time of year again — prom season. Call me a little ridiculous, but I still get pumped despite the fact that my high school days are long gone. It’s always fun seeing some younger friends’ and family get all dressed up, and it’s just as enjoyable to reminisce, especially since Richard and I had two proms together! That being said, there are definitely a few things that I wish I had known back then (like the fact that Richard would accidentally RIP MY DRESS at junior prom…I had to get all safety pinned up by my teachers. Lol. My awkward life.)…okay, a LOT of things, but we’re talking beauty essentials today. And if you’re a big kid like me who’s already had her last high school hoorah? Trust me, you’ll still want to read on. I guarantee you’ll thank me later when you’re heading to your next wedding or other…
